It’s hard to believe that we’re already through our first week of 2021! (Does anyone want to go back to 2020? Haha – NEVER!) One of the most important practices I’ve adopted is starting the year with a word of intention. My word for 2020 was “significant” and I’m excited to share my word for 2021!

I always pray about my word and ask God to speak to my heart, but if that doesn’t appeal to you I would encourage you to choose a word that will challenge and stretch you in the coming year. The beauty of getting a word for your year is that it’s meant to go with you and provide direction. If you choose a word that’s too comfortable, it may not be enough to motivate you towards growth and change. I always want to keep growing, and having something to pursue is a good thing!

My word for 2021 is “GIVE”. I was praying and felt God laying this word specifically on my heart. In a world where everyone is hoarding toilet paper, arguing on social media and looking out for #1 (am I right?) I think it’s so beautiful that God directs us to do the opposite and give. Give not only in the monetary sense (like giving money or material things) but give grace, give love to people who don’t deserve it, give time to family/friends, etc. This has already created a shift in me that I didn’t know I needed. By looking for ways I can “give” everyday, it’s taken my eyes off myself and given me a new perspective. God is SO good like that!

So what’s your word for 2021? If you don’t have one it’s not too late! This is a word you’ll come back to all year long so take your time. I can’t wait to hear what your word is for 2021!
To a beautiful new year full of hope and anticipation…
XO, Lauren

Love this! My 2021 word is abundance.
But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you. – Psalm 5:7
The verse God gave me to reflect on throughout the year.
What a beautiful word! Thanks for sharing Rachel – praying it’s a year of abundance for you!
